Lost in Space

I had meant to do a whole series of blog posts, but I had to finish up the next album, “The Shadow Behind the Sun”.

The front cover for the new album

I finally recorded the last notes (of the musical variety) just last weekend (Feb 28th 2021). I already had the front cover (by Airyll, the same artist who designed my logo for me), and then got an idea for a back cover as well, using parts of the cover image that I had taken out (I loved the spacewhales so much I wanted nothing to cover them up!)

A back cover! Yes, I remember the days of vinyl LPs 🙂

Then there has been a bit of a technical exploration on the question “How do you get 40 minutes of music where each piece connects with the next divided into tracks so that they play on Spotify without gaps in between them.” I think I have that solved thanks to the fine folks at Distrokid (we’ll find out when it goes live, ahem!)

Then there’s been updating BMI, adding metadata onto tracks, getting a couple of singles up for release in a week (“Beneath the Autumn Sky” from “Tursan” which has never been released separated from its surrounding tracks, and “Timestream” from the upcoming album), which meant creating a couple of new covers.

Amongst all that, “One Voice in the Infinite” actually went up as a single back in December, but it wasn’t on YouTube yet.

And indeed there was the question of what I would do for videos for singles from “The Shadow Behind the Sun”. But a day or two after finishing the album, the answer appeared as if sent by the universe when I randomly discovered Space Engine, exactly when I needed it (and wasn’t even looking for it). A good sign, if ever there was one!

So, apologies for not getting around to all this content I was going to write about. The good news is that now the album is finished and the preparations for its launch are taken care of, I will have time to focus on catching up with some stuff I wanted to talk about! You just can’t wait, can you? 🙂

All the best,
Tom (Cu Sithe)
