Things went much slower than expected. The analysis of the nearby phenomenon was nearly complete, and a long range probe had been sent out to explore a possible location that the ship and I might travel to next. In other words, all seemed to be going well.
But then I was beset by a series of technological breakdowns and had to scramble to get it all fixed. We (the ship and I) had to ignore the data coming in from the long range probe, and indeed had to pause our exploration of our immediate surroundings, and I had to pause posting my ongoing log.
It was only yesterday that the sensors were re-enabled, and this only revealed that data on the current dreamspace had become corrupted.
I am tired now, but the news is good. The technical issues have been resolved. The lost data has been replaced; true, it is different than it was before, giving a different result. That’s the nature of these things, they are never the same twice, you can never exactly replicate these passing, ephemeral strands. But I listen to it, and I am satisfied.
I need to complete the last steps in tidying the data, preparing it in a form ready for delivery back to the physical, waking world. After that, contact will be re-established with the distant probe and a decision can be made on whether to head to its dreamspace, or cast about across the realm of infinite possibilities to find another alternative location to travel to next.
